Recycled Glass Bead Bracelets
Details
Every bead in a Ti-a bracelet starts as recycled glass. Bottles, window panes and other glass are beaten into a fine powder, packed into bead molds and fired in an earthenware kiln, using a traditional Ghanaian process. Once the beads are cast and cooled, Krobo women use their skill and creativity to string them into bracelets.
Our beads are made by Agnes Oguah of the Krobodan Beads cooperative in Koforidua, Ghana. Each bracelet has hand-painted accents and is strung on an elastic band, so it slips on easily. Wear one on its own or stack several.
They’re small, light and colorful, which makes them an easy gift, especially paired with one of our fans. Ti-a Woven Goods is women-owned and a Fair Trade Federation member. Museum gift shops and boutiques can order the bracelets wholesale through Faire.
