Gambibgo Carry All Tote

The Gambibgo Carry All Tote is our most popular carry basket: a sturdy, flat-bottomed tote handwoven from wild grass, with leather handles, by women weavers in and around Bolgatanga, Ghana, in the Frafra weaving tradition.

Take it to the farmers market or on a car trip, fill it with garden gloves, a spade and a trowel, or keep it at home for blankets, books and projects. It stands up on its own and is made to last. This is also the style where we encourage weavers to be the most creative, so the colors and patterns are bold and joyful, and they change with the seasons.

• What sizes does the tote come in? Medium is about 19 x 8 x 18 inches and Large about 23 x 12 x 22 inches, measured with the handles up. Every tote is handwoven, so sizes are averages.

• Will I get the exact tote in the photo? You’ll receive the tote shown in the photo. Because every tote is woven by hand, there may be small variations in pattern and proportions.

• My tote arrived flat. How do I shape it? Water is the magic ingredient. Run it under a tub faucet and hang it from the faucet handle to drip dry for 5 to 10 minutes. Straighten the sides and bottom, and you’re set.

• Who makes it? Women weavers working through cooperatives near Bolgatanga. It’s the style where we encourage the most creativity.
