Shoulder Purse

A good seasonal or vacation tote. With a flat, strong bottom, it can hold a tablet, book, water bottle, makeup bag and sunscreen without tipping over, thanks to a flat, sturdy bottom.

These are one-of-a-kind, made with leather straps and clasp, and Kinkanhe, a grass naturally grown in Africa. Called by many different names -- veta vera, napier, elephant grass -- it's remarkably sustainable, a perennial that regrows within three months after harvest, requiring little water in large fields that become twice as tall as a person.

Other reasons to love the purse? We leave lots of room for the women who weave for Ti-a to explore creativity and decision-making. They see that their ideas and skills are feeding their children, and that's a very cool thing.

NOTES

-- Each item is hand-dyed. The shade varies from purse to purse.

-- Style can be 'fluffed' as needed. Wet the purse under a tub faucet. (It's ok if you see a little color runoff; water won't fade it.) Let drip dry for 5-10 minutes, then press the front and back out to create space inside.
